Born in Lisbon, Ruth Shidlo grew up in Portugal, Spain and Israel. A psychologist, editor and writer based in Tel Aviv, she is the author of various essays that have appeared in BioNews and Ha'aretz, as well as articles published in professional journals. She is the scientific editor of Ronnie Solan's ground-breaking book,"The Enigma of Childhood" (Karnac, 2015).
"The Rosebush Murders" (2012) is her debut novel, introducing Detective Inspector (DI) Helen Mirkin, a quirky, opinionated, music-loving sleuth based in Jerusalem. The second book in this series, "Murder in the Choir" (2016) is set in Tel Aviv against the backdrop of the Opera Music Workshop, whereas the third, "Preventable Tragedies," (August, 2017) reads more like an international thriller, its action spanning several countries.
While each Helen Mirkin book deals with a unique case and can be read as a stand-alone, some readers may prefer to read the series as it unfolds, so they can accompany Helen as she moves through various junctions in her own life.
