Contemplating in Autumn’s Yard

From the backyard of her Vermont home, Anne Averyt listens to the quiet around her and to the silence within.  She can hear the flutter of a leaf falling and the lonely sob of night.  She sips tea with wonder and feels the mystery of life passing. Through poetry Anne shares what we often miss, the sound and sight, the beauty of the extra-ordinary.

“In today’s over-informed frenetic world, what’s often missing is attention.  Anne Averyt’s poetry pays attention—to the birds that miss the fallen tree in her backyard, to lost love, to turning 70.  Autumn’s Yard deserves  our attention.”

Rudolph Nelson, Assoc Prof of English (emeritus), University at Albany

“Anne Averyt’s poetry speaks from her heart and experienced eyes.  I am grateful for her musical sincerity, for offering her poems to us.”

Gary Margolis, poet, Runner Without a Number (Wind Ridge Books, 2016)

“… You will rest in the silence that comes before words, and land wanting more, knowing yourself to be enriched by the reading…”

Sarah Bartlett, essayist, poet, founder/facilitator, WomenWritingVT

This is what reviewers are saying about my new chapbook, Autumn’s Yard, to be published by Finishing Line Press. It is humbling to have that response, but I am excited about the chapbook and I wanted to share the news!

What I love about poetry is that every reader makes a poem hers/his own.  That’s what has happened with friends who have read some of the poems in the collection. It would be great to have you out there, friends and acquaintances, read, reflex and share as well.

The window for ordering is through May, but if you do it now you won’t forget !  The website is Finishing Line Press under Forthcoming Titles. Posted on my page is also a review by Sarah Bartlett, poet, essayist and founder/director of WomenWritingVT.   The direct link to my listing is https://finishinglinepress.com/product_info.php?products_id=2654.   If you have any trouble ordering, contact FLP directly at FLPbookstore@aol.com  or contact me at aaveryt@comcast.net .

Thank you so much for your interest — I’ll say that in advance — and I hope you enjoy the poetry and will join in the conversation.

Here is a short cover note about the chapbook.  Enjoy !
