I am the official representative for this English language version of Madeira in a Nutshell.
I have been friends with Anita and Ari Montonen here on Madeira for many years. A couple of years ago they wrote and published a Madeira travel guide in the Finnish language. Anita and Ari are both Finnish. The Finnish book has been very successful, but they were always asked, “Why don’t you do an English language version?”
Then I became involved. I helped Anita translate the Finnish version into English and update all the information.
So here it is, after much blood sweat and tears.
The following text is a preface by the author extracted from the book.
“I am glad that you are interested in Madeira or even going on a trip there. Madeira is a green and beautiful island and there are in addition to nature, flowers and vegetation loads more to see and discover – something for everyone.
I have lived in Madeira with my husband multiple winters over the past ten years, and during that time every winter friends and relatives visited our home. Because Madeira has lot to see and experience, and not one of our guests have ever found a good travel guide which covers their interests, I made a short list from our guests of attractions they were interested in. Because our friends have many different interests that list has increased year by year in its whole extent which is now in your hand.
With no exceptions all our guests were charmed by Madeira. It exceeded their expectations in every way!
This guide does not even attempt to be a comprehensive geography and biology textbook but interesting, giving the main attractions in a briefly presented, easily taken along traveller’s guide.
