Viga Boland is the author of 4 memoirs, her first of which, "No Tears for my Father", won a Gold Medal in the 2014 Readers Favorite Book Awards. This memoir is her true story of childhood sexual abuse, specifically incest, which she suffered at the hands of her biological father from the ages of 11 - 24. Viga kept this secret hidden from everyone, including her husband, for over 40 years and only shared her story for the first time at the age of 65. ˙Her courage in doing so has resulted in her being a popular speaker on child sexual abuse, most recently at a Youth Justice Ministry conference in Cayuga, Ontario.
Viga is also the facilitator for memoir writing workshops for the Hamilton, Ontario Public Library. She is the editor/publisher of a printed and online magazine for memoir writers, called Memoirabilia. The website for that publication is http://www.memoirabilia.ca
Viga has been writing all her life, is the winner of several poetry contests, as well as a blogger on several subjects. Despite her past, she is upbeat, positive and loves to laugh. Her third memoir, "The Ladies of Loretto", is a joyous romp through her 4 years as a student in Catholic High School during the 60's.
