He’s Already Written My Destiny
A motivational book meant to inspire self-discovery and the appreciation of self.
Many of us are not contributing or giving out as much as we ought to because we do not know who we really are, what is deposited in us, or what we are capable of doing or achieving and thus, we do not know what and how much we can give out.
Be mindful that destiny does not mean using only one talent. Destiny is living out the will of God in your life using all your talents.
Everyone is multi-talented. Most of the time, we are biased towards rec-ognising one outstanding skill in a person. Life is all about finding out the will of God for us and then, pursuing it.
Take Mubita C. Nawa, Zambia’s renowned motivational speaker, for in-stance. Besides speaking, he has other talents such as cooking, apparel designing, poetry and book writing to be among his other talents.
Zambia’s songbird, Penjani also does flower arrangement and interior designing.
Lastly, I will use myself as an example. Apart from writing poems, books and song composition, I am also a good artist (pencil and crafts), I design my own clothes and I enjoy flower and vegetable gardening.
Considering the foregoing, it is however important to realise you cannot be a “jack-of-all-trades.” Much as we may want to do all we are capable of, it is paramount to be realistic in order to be relevant.
Any talent you choose to major in will require of you time, commitment, energy and consistent practice in order to yield good results. In addition, the people who will require your services or products will demand consistent quality, efficiency and on-time deliveries.
Being jack-of-all-trades is a slippery and sloppy path to walk. In a business, you risk having a clientele that will not be satisfied with whatever you are putting on the table and the possibility of losing all your customers. As each commitment places its demands on you, you will find yourself straining to deliver on every demand.
At one time, my family and I hired a gardener on part-time basis; reason being, he was working part-time elsewhere. Furthermore, apart from his 11
other job commitment, he was also a tailor at his place of residence which was just about five minutes from our home.
We liked him, because he was a very neat and excellent landscaper. The very first day he worked, there was an appealing difference on the sur-roundings and people complimented. The challenge came when he de-cided to try to make full profits from all his avenues. During working hours, he would disappear, rush out to mend clothes for people and even take orders to make full attires, which required more of his time. His work at home started suffering and his tailoring customers started com-plaining that he was not making their clothes on time. His other em-ployer also started complaining. In the end, we let him go and so did his other employer.
This example illustrates what happens, when you decide to over commit. Your service recipients suffer. Your products will not be up to the ac-ceptable standards, you will be slow on delivering and in the end, you will to lose your customers.
Therefore, it is up to you to be wise as you choose the talents you want to focus on.
As you operate in the will of God, at varying times, you will have to use all of your talents. At least once in your lifetime and it may not always be in exchange of money.
Set God as your standard to determine what you do and to what extent. Be patient to hear and know what He has purposed for your life and this you achieve by having an intimate relationship with Him through prayer. Remember and trust that He will not give you more than you can handle. It will always be within your capacity (1 Corinthians 10:13).
As you stay aligned with God, He will guide you in all that you need to do in your life. As you journey through life with Him, He will reveal His perfect will for your life (Jeremiah 33:3).
OUR ATTITUDE
Attitude is a prime factor in who we are. Our attitude determines how far we go in attaining our highest potential in our destiny.
How we look at things, analyse situations and respond to circumstances that we encounter in our day-to-day living, determines our line of action and consequently, our yield at the end of the day.
Every person in life goes through difficult and trying times. Unfortunately, many people decide to use their bad experiences as a date stamp excuse, for their non-achievement and failures in life.
One can go through a problem today. They can accept what has happened but not allow it to become a limitation and a hindrance. They can decide to pick up the pieces and channel a new course, to try to work things out.
While another person facing a similar situation can choose to be paralysed and stay stuck.
Many waste time assigning blame and pointing fingers at people who did not treat them well in the past; claiming they were prevented from going to school, or did not give them capital to start a business and so on, as the reason why they have not done anything with their lives.
As George B.N. Ayittey put it, ‘Externalists believe that Africa’s woes are due to external factors such as the lingering effects of colonialism and imperialism…’ in relation to problems the continent is experiencing.
Africa today is still crying, blaming Britain and other former colonialists, for not developing instead of picking up the pieces, see what needs to be done and put things in place and then moving on.
So many years have passed, since African countries regained their independence from their colonial rulers and their former colonial rulers have even taken a step further by giving African countries aid to assist in economic development and yet we are still wailing, blaming the former colonialists for the poverty and underdevelopment.
I believe and know that Africa is very rich. It is a raw materials resource base, for almost the whole world. There is oil, diamonds, gold, copper and many other minerals, forests with medicinal plants, leather and wild life, rivers of waters and above all, human resource. She is envied, for her people’s strong family ties, which, can be capitalized on for her people to be united, to work together towards achieving common goals of development and prosperity. Instead, her people are busy fighting each other, while the rest of the world is buying off and often stealing her resources and using them to enhance their economies. Her leaders are allowing greed in their hearts, to amass riches for themselves when given opportunities to lead and head their people towards corporate economic freedom and equal opportunities and resources. Bad and poor governance, giving people fake promises and hope is the order of the day, during election campaigns.
