Lifelong learner, musician, author, world traveler, and all around Renaissance woman. Started writing on HubPages around my professional interests and expertise, which resulted in my first published book, “Instructional Design is NOT Obsolete.” Now I’m working on my second book, which will be another collection of my hubs. This one is on the topic of self-improvement. I’m also working on a romance novel (who isn’t?). Looking forward to seeing where I go next.

Carolyn’s corporate experience includes 32 years with Southern California Gas Company, a Sempra Energy Utility. She spent over 20 years in Human Resources, specializing in workforce training, instructional design, and performance improvement, as well as job skills training and behavior-based safety courses. She has earned profession certifications as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) from the Society for Human Resource Management, as a Qualified Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) practitioner from Qualifying.Org, and as a Certified Training Manager/Director from Langevin Learning Services.

She has been published in The Inland Channel (the ASTD Inland Empire’s newsletter), Creative Training Techniques Newsletter, Training Times, ASTD National Report on Human Resources, Employee Development Newsline, Choices (an internal Gasco newsletter on Career Development), Yahoo Voices, and PIHRAScope. She published “Instructional Design is NOT Obsolete” on Amazon Kindle Books.

Carolyn is also a multifarious musician who started her music studies early in life, playing piano at age three. By the time she reached High School she had added clarinet, saxophone, and flute to her list of favorite instruments, and was very active in the music program (Marching Band, Jazz Band, Madrigal Choir, and various small ensembles). She also dabbled in composing, arranging, and began teaching private lessons. Carolyn won numerous awards at Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association (SCSBOA) festivals, played twice in the All State Honor Band, and was awarded a music scholarship from the Burbank Women’s Chorus Club.

As a freelance writer, she has completed writing assignments on business, Human Resources, politics, and music. She hopes to branch out and explore more topic areas, especially indulging her passion for music, and her general wit and wisdom about life in general.
